SMC 5.0 – modern, clear, future-proof

With the new version 5.0 of the Smart Media Creator, we are opening a new chapter in the development of our CCMS. This is most visible through the redesigned user interface – but the key improvements have been made under the hood. Our goal: a powerful, future-proof system that provides long-term stability, usability, and flexibility. 

Why this release matters

A version update may sound like routine to many. For us, it was a strategic decision: we have future-proofed our technical platform, completely rethought the user interface, and kept the focus firmly on the people who work with our system every day.

What has changed? Quite a lot!

A new interface for a new way of working

Why a new user interface? Because modern Component Content Management requires clear structures, context-based navigation, and flexible work environments. The new UI delivers exactly that:

• Central quick access to content: The quick-access search field is now prominently anchored in the header – always accessible, regardless of the current context.
• Focus on content: The main menu has been moved to the left and can be hidden when needed – for a clean workspace.
• Larger controls and fonts: For better readability – even during long sessions.
• Fresh, contemporary design: With improved tablet usability and optional dark mode, the interface not only feels modern, it looks modern too.

Version 5.0 is, however, much more than a visual update. It is a functional enhancer for the modular editorial process: clear structures, intuitive navigation, and modern interaction elements demonstrate how modular content can be managed and published in an interconnected way. This is true Component Content Management – not just content management.

Under the hood: Why 5.0 is a real future booster

The visible transformation in version 5.0 is based on a deep technological modernization. Two key upgrades lay the foundation for future-proofing, performance, and maintainability:

The SMC foundation has been comprehensively upgraded to meet modern requirements and future challenges. Users benefit from enhanced system stability, improved compatibility, and faster security updates. At the same time, the integration of existing components has been streamlined – reducing effort and ensuring smooth, reliable operation.

Modernized architecture for long-term flexibility
The frontend foundation has also been renewed. By migrating to a current UI framework, we can respond even better to new requirements in the future – whether through security updates, new features, or modern interaction concepts.
