Terminology – the right term for the concept
Term-Check
Whether you create and manage your terminology directly in the editorial system Smart Media Creator – SMC, connect a terminology database, or import your existing terminology (e.g. from Excel) into SMC: SMC offers you comprehensive options for terminology management and checks the use of terms.
SMC’s built-in terminology management allows you to create collections for concepts in order to manage
- foreign language equivalents,
- synonyms and variants,
- concept definitions,
- illustrative images,
- prohibited terms, etc.
control their use, and extend the search functions with synonyms.
The terminology management features are available in all SMC variants. This eliminates the cost of additional modules or third-party software for terminology management. If you wish, you can still maintain your terminology with existing tools and use the entries in SMC. Existing terminology lists can also be easily imported into SMC or synchronized in the background from TMS systems.
Matchfinder – the efficient authoring memory
An important component of authoring support is the optional Matchfinder, which suggests sentences already available in the editorial system while the author is writing. This is about more than greater convenience for the author: it’s about consistency, and thus text quality. And of course, higher consistency also has a positive impact on translation costs.
